What to Look for When Buying a Gaming PC
If you are in the market for a new gaming pc there are several factors you should consider before you take the plunge on a new purchase.
With level of detail and complexity packed into the modern pc game, performance is key. Look for systems with a multi-core processor. With a multi-core system, one or more processors can handle just the operating system and background applications, while others can be dedicated to your game. Four cores is good, but newly available eight core systems are even better. Complementing the processor, a dedicated graphics card is an absolute must. The more memory it has and faster the clock speed the better. Skimping on this component can have a detrimental effect on performance and create a bottleneck down the line. Avoid any system that relies on an integrated graphics card on the motherboard, these will with few exceptions perform poorly.
Memory and hard drive storage space is just as important. At minimum, the system should have at least 4gb of memory, but preferably more. With the install requirements of many games averaging in the 10gb range, your permanent storage should be at least a terabyte. Solid state based hard drives can dramatically decrease loading times over traditional magnetic based ones.
Overall with all of these factors, above all go for the fastest and latest. The more you invest now, the longer your system will be able keep up its performance as games with ever increasing requirements
hit the market.
