What is the Best Software for Tax Preparation?
I have been using software to prepare my taxes for a few years. My dad introduced me to TaxACT, which I used and had always been happy with. When I got married, my father-in-law suggested I use a different type of software, TurboTax. That first year I was married I prepared my taxes using both programs in order to compare the two.
Since my financial information was the same, I received an equal refund from both preparers. TurboTax was a program my father-in-law purchased. However, I don’t want to pay money to have my taxes filed. TaxACT is a free on-line program that does the job I need. Since TurboTax is purchased, I then have to download it onto my computer. Using the on-line version of TaxACT, I don’t have to junk my computer up with programs I rarely use. Finally, each was simple to run, but TaxACT was easier. This could be because I had been using it, but TaxACT is a nicer program to get the hang of when first beginning tax preparation. It is explanatory and asks detailed questions to help you get the full refund you deserve. I continue to use TaxACT for my tax preparations. The information party rocks on: AdAge Honors TurboTax as one of Americas Hottest Brands
